Arequipa. Apr. 18 (ANDINA).- Most tourists visiting Arequipa decide to stay one more day in this Andean city to enjoy the local gastronomic delights. according to a study by Arequipa-based tour operators.
Regional trade and tourism director Rocio Cervantes Mansilla said Saturday that visitors usually stay a day and a half; however. 'they are staying one more day since last year.'
'Tour operators told us that since last year tourists are deciding to stay one more day in our city to visit the 'Picanterias' (restaurants that serve traditional Andean food) of Arequipa. in order to taste our gastronomy.' she said.
Dishes like Rocoto Relleno. Pastel de Papa. Chicharron de Chancho. Picantes. Adobo. Chupe de Camarones. Soltero de Queso. among others are satisfying the most demanding palates.
Rocio Cervantes added that gastronomy from Arequipa. thanks to its variety and exquisiteness. is becoming a tourist attraction of the city.
