Day 2 – Lima and its historical periods

This full day tour offers the best combination of the different attractions in Lima and its three historical periods: Pre-Hispanic, Colonial (Lima’s downtown) and Contemporary. In Lima, there were several different pre-Columbian cultures which are dated thousands of years back. Our tour will start at the Pucllana temple built in the IV century A.D., an ancestral and ceremonial site dedicated to the local divinities. Then, we will visit the citadel of Pachacamac, the temple of the deity. A sacred and ceremonial site dating back to the beginnings of Christianity where thousands of pilgrims converged to pay tribute and consult the Pachacamac oracle, who they believed could see the past, the future and people's fate. Finally, drop off at your hotel.

Day 4– Pre Inca Civilization

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken to the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon to start your guided tour. These two impressive monuments are more than 1,500 years old. Its polychrome big walls, on which they represented the Mochica divinity known as Ai-Apaec (Slaughterer God) are remarkable since they are very well preserved. It is thought that multiple human sacrifices were held to honour this god, rituals that have been captured in other elements of the Mochica iconography.

We will continue with a guided visit to The Dragon Huaca or Arco Iris (The Rainbow). This adobe pyramid is especially important since its construction was done at the beginning of the Chimu culture and at the end of the Tiahuanuco-Wari culture between the tenth and eleventh centuries A.D.

Then we will go to Chan Chan, which spans an area of 20 square km, is the largest mud-brick citadel dating back to the pre-Hispanic era.  The complex is made up of many cities within a city, each of which has its own single entrance which leads down a corridor that opens up into other passageways lining walls and buildings featuring some marvelous rectangular architecture: inner patios, residences, administrative buildings, temples, platforms and storehouses.

Finally, Huanchaco Beach, which is famous for the ‘caballitos de totora’, which are lightweight boats made of totora reeds that have been used to cut through the ocean since the time of the Mochicas and Chimus. There, you can enjoy exquisite seafood or simply bask in the glory of a day at the beach. Return to your Hotel.

  Overnight: In Trujillo City

Meal Plan: breakfast and lunch

Day 5– Archaeological Complex El Brujo & The Lady of Cao / Lunch with Peruvian Paso Horse Show / Trujillo to Chiclayo Path

Breakfast at Hotel.
In the morning, we will visit the Archeological Complex El Brujo – Lady of Cao, located 60 Km from the City of Trujillo in the Chicama Valley. A female mummy, baptized the Lady of Cao, with complex tattoos on her arms was found in a ceremonial burial site in Peru. Archaeologists say it is one of the best-ever relics of a civilization that ended more than 1,300 years ago. Such a complete array has never been seen before in a Moche tomb.

Finally, we will have a tourist lunch with a remarkable Peruvian Paso Horses Show.

In the evening, transfer to Trujillo Bus Station to take a tourist bus to Chiclayo City. This road takes approximately 4hours and a half drive.

Upon arrival to the Bus Station, welcome and transfer to your Hotel.

  Overnight: In Chiclayo City

Meal Plan: breakfast and lunch

Day 6– National Sican Museum / Royal Tombs of Sipan / Valley of the Pyramids, Tucume

Breakfast at Hotel. Pick up and transfer to Sican or House of the Moon. This museum houses countless exquisite relics from the Sican civilization. The rooms represent excavated tombs and exhibit the burial paraphernalia discovered there. The museum also offers detailed information on the excavation process and site preservation, as well as the chronology, development, trade networks, economic activities, burial patterns, and cosmology of the Sican or Lambayeque cultures.

We will continue to the Museum of the Lord of Sipan. The Lord of Sipan was buried with gold relics and his feet clad in silver. To accompany him, his subjects, sacrificed women, children and llamas. More than 1,700 years later, the warlord made his triumphant reappearance. But more than just the spectacular nature of the discovery and the sterling quality of the relics, the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipan have enabled historians and archaeologists to piece together much of the lost history of an impressive civilization which dominated most of northern Peru for centuries: the Moche.

We will continue to the Tucume Pyramids Complex, one of the country´s most important pre-Inca centers because of the dimensions and quality of its structures, as the main attraction.
