Luxury PreInca & Inca Program
13 days/ 12 nights
Daily Departures

Day 1 – Lima to Paracas & Ballestas Islands

Early pick up and transfer in private car from Lima to Paracas.
After arrival, start a guided boat trip to Ballestas Islands, giving you a chance to gaze at the sea lion colonies, fur seals, penguins, dolphins (with a bit of luck), and more than two hundred species of birds such as flamingos (parihuanas), waders, and guano birds. As well you will look out across the hillside at the candlestick-like figure of the ‘Candelabro’, a geoglyph of more than 120meters or 394 feet long, carved into the sand with a similar technique to the Nazca Lines. It is better appreciated from the ocean.
Finally, transfer to your comfortable hotel to a refreshing dip in its swimming pool or a chance to do a little sunbathing on its terrace.
  Overnight: In Paracas Bay

Meal Plan: ----

Day 2 – Nasca Lines & Palpa Lines and Figures

Breakfast at Hotel. Afterwards transfer in private car to continue your journey to Ica aerodrome to get aboard an aircraft to fly over mysterious Nasca Lines & Palpa Lines and Figures.
Fifty square km of desert floor were covered centuries ago by vast drawings, figures of mammals, insects and deities. The Nasca Lines are the most extraordinary legacy left by a culture that flourished in 300 BC. The lines are a series of complex designs, some up to 300 meters long which can only be seen in their true dimension from the sky, from an altitude of at least 1,500 feet.
Return and drop off at your hotel.
 Overnight: In Paracas Bay

Meal Plan: breakfast

Day 3 – Back to Lima

Breakfast at your hotel. Day at leisure.
Late afternoon transfer in private car to Lima City. Arrival, pick up and transfer to your cozy 4* Hotel located at Lima’s airport (saving time/cost transfers in/out to catch your flight to your next destination).
  Overnight: In Lima City

Meal Plan: breakfast

Day 4 – Trujillo and the Sun & Moon Temples

Breakfast at you hotel. Departure to Trujillo, the capital of the eternal spring.
Arrival in the morning and transfer to your hotel. Later you will have a private guided city tour beginning with the Main Square, Colonial Casonas and the Museum of the City.
After lunch you will be taken to the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon to start your guided tour. These two important ceremonial centres are located only 8 km away from the City of Trujillo, these impressive monuments are more than 1,500 years old. Its polychrome big walls, on which they represented the Mochica divinity known as Ai-Apaec (Slaughterer God) are remarkable since they are very well preserved. It is thought that multiple human sacrifices were held to honour this god, rituals that have been captured in other elements of the Mochica iconography. Return to your Hotel.
NOTE: For the time being the tourist visit includes only the Temple of the Moon.

  Overnight: In Trujillo City

Meal Plan: breakfast

Day 5 – Chan Chan, the world's largest pre-Hispanic mud-brick citadel & Huanchaco Beach

After breakfast at your Hotel we will pick you up and start a private guided visit to The Dragon Huaca or Arco Iris (The Rainbow). This adobe pyramid is especially important since its construction was done at the beginning of the Chimu culture and at the end of the Tiahuanuco-Wari culture between the tenth and eleventh centuries A.D. Continue to Chan Chan, which spans an area of 20 square km, is the largest mud-brick citadel dating back to the pre-Hispanic era. The city was the urban center of a vast regional state which covered half of the Peruvian coast, stretching from Tumbes on the Ecuadorian border down as far south as Lima. All roads branched out from Chan Chan.
You will be taken then to Huanchaco Beach; it is famous for the ‘caballitos de totora’, which are lightweight boats made of ‘totora’ reeds that have been used to cut through the ocean since the time of the Mochicas and Chimus. There, you can enjoy exquisite seafood at your own expense or simply bask in the glory of a day at the beach.

  Overnight: In Trujillo City

Meal Plan: breakfast

Day 6 – Trujillo to Chiclayo & the tattooed royal mummy: the Lady of Cao

Breakfast at your Hotel. You will be driven in a private car and on the way to Chiclayo City we will visit the Archeological Complex El Brujo (The Wizard), located in the Chicama Valley. Investigators have discovered indications of occupation from the pre-ceramic period. We will continue with a guided tour to its on-site Cao Museum. The female mummy, baptized the Lady of Cao (450 A.D.), is the first female ruler of the Mochica culture and is considered one of the best-ever relics of a civilization that ended more than 1,300 years ago. The mummy was accompanied by ceremonial items including jewelry and weapons, and the remains of a teenage girl who had been sacrificed. Peruvian archaeologists, under the direction of lead scientist Regulo Franco, made the discovery in 2005 at this ancient ceremonial site known as El Brujo (The Wizard). In addition to the tattooed mummy of El Brujo complex, the museum exhibits weavings and ceramics from the Mochica culture, some of which date back 5,000 years.
We will stop at Casa Hacienda Paijan to enjoy a typical lunch with an exhibition of Peruvian Paso horses.

Finally, transfer to your welcoming hotel.
  Overnight: In Chiclayo City

Meal Plan: breakfast and lunch

Day 7: Royal Tombs of Sipan, Tucume, and Sican Museum - Departure to Lima

Breakfast at your Hotel. Pick up and transfer to the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum.
In the fourth century AD, the Moche people buried one of their greatest warlords, the Lord of Sipan. It was hailed as one of the most important archaeological finds of the century. We will continue to the Tucume Pyramids Complex, one of the country´s most important pre-Inca centers. Lunch in a tourist restaurant to try the best of Northern cuisine.

Afterwards, a guided visit to the National Sican Museum or the House of the Moon. The rooms represent excavated tombs and exhibit the burial paraphernalia discovered there. The museum also offers detailed information on the excavation process and site preservation, as well as the chronology, development, trade networks, economic activities, burial patterns, and cosmology of the Sican or Lambayeque cultures.
Finally you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Lima.

The Salt Mines of Maras have been used since the Tahuantinsuyo. The view of this complex of nearly 3000 wells is spectacular. The local people happily demonstrate the ancient techniques to visitors, sometimes even allowing them to participate in them. Continue to the Terracing-Agricultural Laboratory of Moray, famous for its sunken amphitheater, made up of four circular terraces which appear to disappear into the earth like an artificial crater. Next continue toward Urubamba. Lunch included. The tour goes on to the town of Ollantaytambo from where you will climb up to its imposing Inca fortress at the top of the mountain.
