Breakfast at Hotel

Full Day Guided Tour to Chinchero, Salt Mines of Maras and Terracing-Agricultural Laboratory of Moray. Pick up from your hotel. Tourist Lunch included.

Chinchero attractive town considering the colonial constructions built on Incas foundations. An eye-catching feature of its main square: a stonewall with trapezoidal niche. Every Sunday, the farmers and businessmen gather to exchange their products in a fair where they still barter. Also called Salinas de Maras, these salt-mines have been used since the Tahuantinsuyo. The people channel the salt water that bubbles to the surface from a spring called Qoripujio towards men-made wells. The view of this complex of nearly 3000 wells is spectacular. The local people happily demonstrate the ancient techniques to visitors, even allowing them to participate in them.

Moray is famous for its sunken amphitheater, made up of four circular terraces which appear to disappear into the earth like an artificial crater.

Lost in history, it was not discovered until 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham.

Day 5 - Free Morning at leisure in Machu Picchu Citadel

Breakfast at Hotel

You may take this unique chance to ascend to the Inti Punku or climb the well-known Wayna Picchu very early this morning. It is highly important to take note that this is a free activity and no guide needed according to regulations so be prepare for a tough climb -you have to be in a good health condition. If you agree, we may arrange that your entrances and round trip bus tickets be handed in at your arrival to Cusco.

The eternal guardian of the Sanctuary, Wayna Picchu (meaning “young mountain” in Quechua) towers over the Incan city. To conquer its summit is truly an unforgettable experience. Along the route and at the top are sacred structures and eye catching terraces, built right against the slope’s edge. The site, featuring stone buildings and steep stone stairways, seems to be some type of customs checkpoint for people arriving and departing the city.

It is possible to begin the ascent from Machu Picchu’s main square by way of a path the Incas themselves made. Today, it is well marked and in good condition. The view from Wayna Picchu is remarkable: Machu Picchu spread out in all its glory, the Vilcanota River Canyon, and the surrounding mountains. Be prepared for a tough two to three hour climb.
